About Daisho Tactical

The Founder

I am a twenty four year law enforcment officer working for a large midwestern police department and a sixteen year member of their SWAT team. In that capacity I have participated in site security details, dignitary protection assignments, hostage rescue operations and the execution of over 900 high risk search warrants. I currently run the patrol rifle program for my department and in that capacity create curriculum and manage the ongoing training of over 450 rifle certified officers.

After being frustrated with a tote full of old tactical slings none of which suited my needs, I started making his own weapon slings as a hobby in 2020. After a few years of making a variety of sling models for myself and my coworkers I established my small business, Daisho Tactical, in 2022. Since then I have expanded my products to include a wide variety of sling models and shooting bags. I also continue to make custom weapon slings on request.

What makes your slings better?

I can't tell you why my slings are "better" than any given major manufacturer because people have preferences. I can tell you why my slings are good. I am an end user who makes purpose built products designed for duty use. My 1:2 Conversion Bungee Sling is the first sling I designed and I use it daily on SWAT operations. I use tubular nylon webbing because it is strong and has a rolled edge, like a firehose. Thus it doesn't dig into your neck. I use military grade, bonded nylon thread (T70) that is typically used in leatherwork for strength.

Every sling is made by my hand at my workbench NOT in a Chinese sweat shop. I err on the side of overstitching. I only use quality components (Steel HK hooks made in USA and Magpul or BCM QDs). I only use ITW polymer components (Israeli company that makes high quality stuff). I do NOT sew in the attachment hardware on my Two-Point slings. Which means you can set up my slings however you want and change them later if need be.

If you want something custom (like a different colored pull tab or whatever) just put it in the notes section of your order or send me an email (rob@daishotactical.com) with your order number and request. Finally all my products are made for durability and comfort. If anything breaks just email me and I will replace it.

About my logo

"Daisho" is a Japanese term that literally translates to "Big-Small". A samurai sword stand that has a long sword and short sword is known as a "Daisho Stand". Samurai used two different length swords, one for normal engagements and one for close quarters. The reference for my company is a shooter should strive to develop both long range precision and close range CQB skills. Professionally I am a SWAT trainer, SWAT sniper and rifle instructor. Prior to my law enforcement career I was a fighter. My formative years of martial arts training were in a Japanese form of bare knuckle karate which left me with a lot of respect for Japanese and samurai imagery.
